Additional musical contributors to the album include fingering maestro Phil Maine of the late great Eden Maine, and doombringer Chris Fielding of Agent Of The Morai.

Scarecrow Smile: Home Demos Volume 1 will be the next album by Soft Hearted Scientists.

It will be available as a digital download from Monday 27th October 2008 and later in the year as a full colour sleeved compact disc. There are 16 songs on the record, which clock in at a sprightly 52 minutes, and the front sleeve will be a photograph of a bizarre road side shop encountered by SHS singer Nathan on a road trip in the USA, somewhere in Georgia or possibly Florida in the year 2000 AD.

Penmon marks a departure for Lleuwen, who is perhaps best known for her interpretations of other people’s work. Her return to Wales (settling in Penmon, Anglesey) has heralded the beginning of a new creative phase and provided the inspiration for this collection of original tracks. As Lleuwen acknowledges: ‘Penmon has given me these songs…they are Penmon’s songs’.

A ‘no nonsense’ arrangement of 11 songs, Penmon reflects the natural ebb and flow of the Welsh landscape that inspires her. The unique sound is impossible to categorize and reflects a unique fusion of jazz and folk. In addition to Lleuwen’s own songs, the album includes an arrangement of ‘Y Darlun’, by T. Rowland Hughes, as well as a track, co-produced with Mr Phormula (Ed Holden), written to compliment the words of historical Welsh poet, T. Gwynn Jones.
