Moby’s ninth album is the follow-up to 2008’s dance oriented ’Last Night’ and was inspired by director David Lynch’s views on creativity for its own sake, aside from any commercial pressures. Recorded on analogue equipment in Moby’s bedroom studio, mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros), and released on the artist’s own label, it is, in Moby’s own words, "quieter, more melodic, more mournful and more personal" than much of his recent output. Includes the singles ’Pale Horses’ and the free download ’Shot In The Back Of The Head’, whose video was directed by Lynch.

We’ve had to wait patiently to receive the follow up to ’Good News...’ and the band even canceled tours to catch up with the recording of this one. The funny thing about this one is that Johnny Marr (ex Smiths) is in the band now! Also James Mercer (Shins) guests, but that doesn’t tickle me quite as much! So, what does it sound like? Well, the furious strict tempo beat is still there and there are some nifty little guitar riffs thrown in for good measure. Oh, and the sarcastic sense of optimism iss ever present in the lyrics.

Classic Krautrock reissue from 1981. On their second album Material, Moebius & Plank ventured far, far away frok the double coordinates of the Harmonia world and pop music cosmos. Amazingly, they did not find themselves foating in space, but made an exemplary landing, avoiding getting caught between a rock and a hard place. "Material" is, in the best sense of the word, without style, that is to say, it cannot be aligned with any of the conventional styles available.
