Sweet Baboo dropped in to see us at the end of last week and he was armed with his new album Hello Wave. It’s an infectious collection of tracks that brim with humor and charisma. Like all good county musicians Mr Baboo helps us to find optimism and hope in sadness. We also had a delivery of poet, playwright and activist, Patrick Jones’ new CD Tongues for a Stammering Time which features collaborations with James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire, Billy Bragg, Beverley Humphreys, Stacey Blythe and others.
Moby returns to his roots on Wait For Me. Album number nine is in his own words "quieter, more melodic, more mournful and more personal" than much of his recent output. We have some CD singles featuring lovely remixes by Gui Boratto, Apparat and VC3 for early birds who purchase the album.
It’s the 10th anniversary of Keep It Unreal by Mr Scruff so Ninja Tune have issued a special analogue remaster edition with an extra 9 track bonus CD. With his most notable hit Get A Move On featuring a sample by Moondog we have to let you know about the recent reissues from the Honest Jon’s label. Viking of Sixth Avenue is the one to go for if you want the original Scruff sample Bird’s Lament but they’re all worth investigating as Moondog is without a doubt a real one off.
Anyone who’s planning a trip to Brecon this August for The Greenman Festival should be excited about Wilco playing this year and they’ll no doubt give us a few tracks from Wilco (The Album) which is out today. For those able to pop in to see us, we have Greenman tickets on sale here in the shop and can take cash or debit card payment.

Spillers Records - Who We Are
Spillers Records (us!) is the world’s oldest record shop, established in Cardiff in 1894 by Henry Spiller. We have contined to trade in music ever since from our premises in Cardiff. We specialise in independent music of most genres in both CD and vinyl, plus we have knowledgeable staff who will be happy to help you, either in the store or here at our website at www.spillersrecords.com. We like records, tea, instores and if you bring us biscuits from Wally’s deli (in the arcade next to us) we’ll like you a lot.
